There is no single pathway through learning and work. So why should there be only one way to find a skill?

This Jobs & Skills Month we're inviting you to join the conversation.

Through a series of webinars, we'll explore ideas and approaches that can help us better understand Australia's skills and workforce. Each webinar offers a different way to get involved, hear from experts and explore some of the issues shaping learning and work in Australia.

More than one way to find a skill

More than one way to find a skill explores how the National Skills Taxonomy can keep one trusted record for each skill while making that skill easier to find across different jobs, industries, capabilities and learning pathways.

It’s a chance to have a conversation about using this structure to reveal transferable skills, support career mobility, improve workforce planning and design more responsive learning pathways.

Save the date: 1:15pm to 2:00pm AEDT, Thursday 22 October 2026.

Why the regions matter: Jobs, skills and opportunity across regional Australia

Regional Australia plays a significant role in Australia's prosperity, identity and cultural strength. Regional communities sustain essential industries, support economic growth and contribute to the nation's social and economic wellbeing.

This discussion will explore why regional Australia matters to the nation’s future prosperity, and the foundational contribution of regional jobs and skills. Panellists will reflect on the key findings and opportunities identified in JSA’s latest Jobs and Skills Roadmap for Regional Australia (scheduled for release on 10 November 2026), including the role of education and the supports needed to improve tertiary participation and pathways to learning and work in regional Australia. The panel will also discuss broader efforts to strengthen regional Australia and support the nation’s long-term resilience and prosperity.

Panellists from regional education, policy, research and regional development will reflect on key insights and opportunities from the latest report. They'll explore the role of education and the supports needed to improve tertiary participation and pathways to learning and work in regional Australia.

Register to join us from 2:00pm to 3:00pm AEDT on Tuesday 17 November 2026 to explore the latest findings and opportunities.

The conversations will also continue through the JSA roadshow.
