Jobs and Skills Australia has a clear ambition: to help realise the full skills potential of our nation.

Our role is to help build a better understanding of Australia’s current, emerging and future skills and workforce needs. We provide independent advice to the Australian Government and other stakeholders, informed by high-quality data, analysis and insights.

That work helps Australia understand what is happening in the labour market today and look ahead to what may be needed in the future. It also considers how effectively the national skills system is responding and how pathways through learning and work are changing.

Building that understanding takes more than data and analysis. What people experience across industries, workplaces and communities can add context to what the evidence tells us.

That is why engagement is central to how we work.

Our tripartite approach brings government, employers and workers into the conversation, while our broader engagement draws on knowledge and experience from across the jobs and skills system.

Creating opportunities for those conversations is part of JSA’s role. Our Strategic Plan recognises the importance of informed discussion about Australia’s current and future workforce and skills needs, and the contribution it can make to better decision making.

Jobs & Skills Month takes that conversation further.

From 20 October to 20 November 2026, JSA will host the inaugural Jobs & Skills Month under the theme Pathways to Success.

The month encourages a broad range of not-for-profit events that reflect the diversity of Australia’s jobs and skills system.

Every event adds another perspective to the national conversation. An idea shared in one place can prompt thinking somewhere else, while new connections can extend beyond the month itself.

Strong pathways are built together.
