Generative AI tools are now part of most job searches. Knowing where they genuinely help, and where they can cause barriers or false confidence, isn't always obvious. Perhaps you have been using AI tools in your career planning already, and are curious about the results, or are not using them at all. This free, practical session translates a framework originally developed for career guidance practitioners into a hands-on guide for any individuals actively job hunting, thinking about planning a career move, or just wanting to better articulate their professional experience and explore options.

Speaker: Barnaby Mollett is a career coach, educator and author (Registered Career Development Professional, CDI; Coaching Practitioner with EMCC, NAGCAS member). He has worked in careers education at the London School of Economics, UCL and Imperial College London, and as a freelance career coach (through his business Future, Referenced) with individuals and groups ranging from students to board-level executives. He has an interest in researching the ethical use of AI in career guidance, with a case study published by AdvanceHE (2026) and delivery of a training webinar to career development professionals through the CDI. He currently lives and works in Melbourne, and recently had a book published on the importance of empathy in the workplace, ‘Read the Room: Empathize at Work’.
