Careers Powering Australia’s Energy Future is a free, live virtual site visit hosted by Vyatra, in partnership with an Australian energy company.

Australia’s energy sector is changing fast, and it needs people with a wide range of skills: trades, operations, engineering, digital, environmental and more. But for most people, what these jobs actually look like, and how to get into them, is hard to picture from the outside.

This session takes you there. Vyatra’s hosts broadcast live from inside a working energy site and follow electricity from where it’s generated to where it’s used. Along the way you’ll meet workers at different stages of their careers, such as an apprentice, an operator, an engineer and someone who changed careers into energy. Each shares the path they took, what their day involves, and the skills that matter most.

Key topics:

  • How electricity is generated and delivered across Australia
  • The roles and skills behind the energy sector, from trades to engineering
  • Pathways in: apprenticeships, traineeships, VET, university and career change
  • How the energy transition is reshaping jobs and creating new ones
  • What you’ll experience
  • A live tour of a working site, with commentary from the people who work there
